三賞

Sansho

The three prizes from Natsu 2013.

殊勲賞

Shukun-sho

Outstanding performance. Usually awarded for beating yokozuna or ozeki, or for a run that shaped the yusho.

Not awarded this basho.

敢闘賞

Kanto-sho

Fighting spirit. A gutsy winning record, often from lower maegashira, that the committee cannot ignore.

Not awarded this basho.

技能賞

Gino-sho

Technique. Awarded for the way they win — throws and other kimarite — not just the win count.
